A seasonal favourite...

..
Cinnamon and ginger Crisps
Ideal for hanging on the tree
like ornaments...they look good, taste wonderful and their aroma
is so Christmassy...

* My photo: the first, and, so far, only, Christmas decoration on our tree..!

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup molasses
2/3 cup light corn syrup
4 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Beat butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses and corn syrup
until well combined.
Add in the remaining ingredients and stir until a smooth dough forms.
Chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out thinly on a lightly floured.
Cut with floured cutters.
Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 minutes
.
ENJOY !
.
* Both my girls have somehow managed to catch tonsilitis, laryngitis and
a dreadful cold all at the same time - so, instead of being out and about, I'm grounded..!
In between visits to the Doctor's surgery and the health shop for natural
remedies, I've been writing out Christmas cards, gift wrapping, decorating and baking..!
Quite a blessing in disguise actually - hopefully by stopping work earlier for the holiday break,
there won't be the usual last minute rush that we've all become
accustomed to...

If you are only going to have one ornament- this looks like the one to have!

Hope your girls feel better soon xo

oh no! it's not fun being sick. I used to get all three at the same time too when I was younger. Make ginger tea!
about 4 cups water
section of fresh ginger root cut into pieces
boil for about 10-15 minutes
strain into mugs
add a squeeze of lemon and honey to taste.

it's strong but helps the throat and helps clear the head, all naturally:)

By the way, I love that ornament! very pretty
well wishes your way.

Just my kind of cookie. Oh I hope your girls recover quickly. It is better that they had it now than on Christmas week.

These look yummy. I tried to make a chewy chocolate gingerbread recipe from Martha Stewart last night and they were awful! The directions were not easy to follow at all, I should have known better.

Ooh this looks like a lovely recipe! Can't wait to give it a try...I can almost smell them now! In fact I have to say that's my fave thing about holiday baking...it tastes good but the SMELL around the house is divine!

Thanks for stopping by today--- I'm glad you happened across me too and I'm really enjoying exploring your lovely blog.
